Hi I'm trying to establish whether or not I have lead pipes in a property which was built in Scotland around 1970. The stop valve inside the property appears to have copper piping coming up from the outside therefore can I assume this will be the same type of piping all the way to the boundary where Scottish Power would maintain the rest of the network? Thanks
Hi all I have a bath fitted to a corner with tiles to the joining walls, where the sealant material which joins the bath edge and the tiles seems to be peeling away. I don’t want to leave this issue too long for the risks of leaking as it wears away further. What would be the best sealant product I could use to replace this current material that’s peeling away? If there are any other products or ideas anyone recommends, please let me know.
What flowers are best to attract bees and butterflies into my garden? Do you have tips/advice on how I should lay out these flowers and what colours they should have? Can I confirm that attracting insects to my garden is beneficial to them and to the ecological system in general? I want to play my part in helping out.
I’m planning to have laminate flooring fitted in my living room as a replacement of a carpet. Would it be okay to keep the current underlay ahead of the laminate flooring installation? Or should I have a new underlay installed instead?
Hi, I have Dulux Diamond Matt paint (originally for the lounge) but I was wondering if this is ok to paint in the kitchen as well? Or should I buy paint specific for kitchens?
Hi, We have an external water leak. A contractor has been today and one option given is replacing the pipe altogether rather than trying to trace the leak and repair. This I am happy with. However they have suggested putting the supply pipe under the driveway from the meter on the pavement, then bringing it up in the garage (so it will be above ground in the garage), running it the length of the garage and then connecting it to an existing water pipe that we have in the garage for the washing machine. They would then install a new stopcock, and block off our existing one. Reason for this option is to save having to take up the floor in the house. Does this sound right?
Hi a roofer has replaced a broken ridge tile and said fitted a lead soaker, I expected to see this but all I can see is cement. Is there anyway to tell if it has been fitted?
Do you think its worth my while to have my driveway gate measured by myself a novice or by someone who has the experience with installing gates
I would like to install more switches at two different doorways within the same large room. Ideally both switches could be used independently of each other without any conflict. Is it feasible for me to install the additional switch and make adjustments by myself or is this more for a professional electrician to complete? In either case, is it likely that I will need to repaint or plaster around the switches afterwards? Any advice on this project would be great!
I have a random leak under the sink. The traps have been replaced twice and we can go days without any leaks then randomly we have a bowl full of water? Has anyone seen this before the house has plastic piping and was built 1989?
