"Hello Barry ,
Yes it can [it is possible]. BUT… not without an extra support method. [You cannot just drill Into plasterboard using average plasterboard fixings and expect it to hold [it will come tumbling down]! You either need to use a timber support Baton [widert the better] between the two upright studs where you wish the television to be located... This extra timber can be either external on the wall and painted OR internal... - Internal costs more obviously as you need to have a large piece of plasterboard taken out then… after the timber has been properly fixed [inside wall], It then needs re plaster boarding and re plastering to match the wall again.. Hence the cost is more.. Hope That helps."

"A 55-inch OLED TV typically weighs between 20-30 kg. Plasterboard (drywall) walls can support this weight, but it's crucial to mount the TV properly to avoid damage.

Here are some key considerations:

Mounting Bracket: Use a high-quality TV wall mount rated for the size and weight of your TV.

Wall Studs: The key to safely mounting a TV on plasterboard is to anchor into the wall studs, not just the plasterboard itself. Plasterboard alone will not support the weight of the TV. Use a stud finder to locate the studs behind the plasterboard, and secure the TV mount to those.

Fixings: Use appropriate screws or bolts designed for heavy loads. Avoid relying on simple screws meant for drywall anchors, as they may not hold the weight securely."

"Yes you can but you need to locate the studs and fix the mounting bracket to the studs"

"Hi Barry yes you can but using the correct mounting bracket along with (if possible) fixing it into the studwork will help. That said there are special plasterboard fixings I have used many times and some can hold 74kg each so when several are used to fix brackets to the wall they will secure it.
Thanks."

"You can mount a 55-inch OLED TV on a plasterboard (drywall) wall, but you need to consider a few key points:

1. TV Weight vs Plasterboard Strength
• Most 55-inch OLED TVs weigh between 15–20 kg (33–44 lbs) without the stand.
• Plasterboard itself isn’t designed to hold that weight directly, but you can mount safely if you secure the bracket into wall studs (wooden or metal frames behind the plasterboard).

2. Mounting Methods
• Best method: Find studs and screw the mount into them – this is the safest and most reliable option.
• If no studs: Use special heavy-duty plasterboard fixings (like Gripit fixings or spring toggles), rated for your TV’s weight. These can safely hold TVs up to 50kg if done correctly.

3. Bracket Choice
• Choose a fixed or tilting bracket (less stress than a full-motion one).
• Make sure the bracket itself is rated for more than your TV’s weight.

4. Cable & Hole Positioning
• Ensure there’s no risk of damaging wiring/pipes when drilling.

Bottom line: Yes, you can mount it, but ideally into studs. If no studs are available, use proper heavy-duty fixings designed for plasterboard. Do not just use standard wall plugs; they will fail."

"You can mount a 55-inch OLED TV on a plasterboard wall, but it really depends on a few things:
1. Weight of the TV: Most 55-inch OLEDs weigh around 15–25 kg (33–55 lbs), but check your specific model.
2. Wall type: Plasterboard (drywall) alone isn’t strong enough to hold that weight securely.
3. Mounting method: You must find the wall studs (the wooden or metal framing behind the plasterboard) and fix the TV mount directly into those studs. Using just drywall anchors won’t safely support a heavy TV.

If you can’t locate studs or they don’t align where you want the TV, consider:
• Using a mounting plate that spreads the load
• Adding reinforcement behind the plasterboard
• Mounting on a solid wall if possible

So, if you mount it properly into the studs, it’s safe. Just don’t rely on drywall anchors alone."

"The answer is yes you can but I suggest to install a wooden board almost the size of the TV on plasterboard with plasterboard heavy duty plugs then install the tv on wooden board, this will help to distribute the tv weight over the wall."

"Yes it would be to heavy, at least one side of bracket should be attached to stud wall."

"Hi Barry, yes you can. If can't get fixings to the stud than I will advise you use as many plasterboard fixings as possible. I have fixed so many brackets and a lot larger TVs have been hanged onto them, never had an issue."

"Will be too heavy unless you can hit a wooden beam with your screws"
