Moving a radiator

Hi
How much does it cost to move the position of a radiator in a room.
My son's room currently has a large radiator under his window, I would like to replace it with a smaller one behind his door.
I can obviously price a radiator online but how much is it to move pipes?

"Hello Fiona,
It does depend on some factors.
Distance from old radiator location to new radiator location.
Size of the property, presuming bedroom is upstairs with no heating pipework above.
Space to work, is the room full of things or empty with the carpet up?
Good access to floor boards, to lift them, and to run new pipework under the floor to the new radiator location.
Is the customer supplying the radiator and valves (TRV & L/S).

Presuming the room is empty with carpet. I can estimate it will take at least half a day to 1 full day labour as it will need to be drained down to be able to cut the pipework under to floor. Only 1 engineer.

It does depend on the individual company, may have an apprentice/mate to help things along.
Prices vary per company, £100? materials (not the radiator or valves), £500? Day rate.

Thank you for your question, Dan from Truheat"

"Hi,
It depends on the size of your system, boiler etc. The whole heating system will need to be drained, floor coverings and floorboards to be lifted, pipework will need to be run under floors and re-routed to the new radiator position.
Then the radiator fitted and reconnected. The heating system will need to be refilled, tested and commissioned.
It could take anywhere from 4-8hrs.
A survey is the only way to price up accurately."

"It depends where you want the pipes underfloor or along the wall and then the distance moving"
