How to turn my balcony into a garden?

I don’t need grass or anything but I’d like to make it more homely rather than just concrete. How can I make the space look nice?

    Lead or Copper Pipes

Hi I'm trying to establish whether or not I have lead pipes in a property which was built in Scotland around 1970. The stop valve inside the property appears to have copper piping coming up from the outside therefore can I assume this will be the same type of piping all the way to the boundary where Scottish Power would maintain the rest of the network? Thanks

    Existing conservatory footings

We have an existing conservatory (brick for the bottom 0.5m) attached to the rear of the house. We are exploring the idea of knocking through and creating a flat roof extension on the footprint of the conservatory. My question is, is it likely the conservatory footings will be suitable for an extension or will they need re-doing? Thank you

Can water supply pipe from mains run partially above ground?

Hi, We have an external water leak. A contractor has been today and one option given is replacing the pipe altogether rather than trying to trace the leak and repair. This I am happy with. However they have suggested putting the supply pipe under the driveway from the meter on the pavement, then bringing it up in the garage (so it will be above ground in the garage), running it the length of the garage and then connecting it to an existing water pipe that we have in the garage for the washing machine. They would then install a new stopcock, and block off our existing one. Reason for this option is to save having to take up the floor in the house. Does this sound right?

    Patio grout very yellow

We’ve had a beautiful patio laid by a professional. Pale grey mottled granite style slabs. The gaps were filled with a dry sand/cement mix. Whilst it was being done I queried the colour as it was very yellow, but was assured it would turn grey. A month on, it’s still yellow. It cost a fortune and I’m gutted. The yellow mix has also bled around the edges oF the tiles, obviously wouldn’t have been noticeable if it had dried grey. What has gone wrong and how can it be fixed?

What is the typical cost of a removal company for moving house?

Hi We will be moving to a new house in the near future and want to hire a removals service to move all of our belongings from the old house to the new house. Are there any typical costs we can expect? And what kind of factors would effect the price normally?
