  • Changing window

Do I need to have planning permission for change a rear window for different size? I intend to just raise the bottom part, I am not going to touch the steel beam above (height) and not touch the width, it is not in conservation area and it is not a listed building.

Is anything needed then on these boards before coating in the maple showerproof tile adhesive? Also any recommendations of the best type of grout to use?

Are plastic pipes suitable to use with radiators?

Hi all, We’ve had some pipes replaced recently by a professional plumber to resolve some problems. Although, the issues have been resolved, I’ve since noticed the pipes themselves are plastic – I have some concern about this as these are pipes connected directly and indirectly to the radiators and the boiler. Given the heat that could be involved, this is a concern to me – is this normal to have plastic piping used like this nowadays?

    Moving a radiator

Hi How much does it cost to move the position of a radiator in a room. My son's room currently has a large radiator under his window, I would like to replace it with a smaller one behind his door. I can obviously price a radiator online but how much is it to move pipes?

    Driveway extension-cost

I'm looking for ballpark figures for a driveway extension. I understand it's difficult without seeing it in oerosn but would like to know how much cash I'm looking at having to save for it, roughly. It's to extend an existing single driveway into a double. The area to be converted is currently covered in loose gravel, about 120 millimetres deep, with soft earth underneath. The area is also sloped towards the house at about a ten degree gradient. It's around eleven square metres in total. I've already been granted permission for a dropped kerb and am awaiting a separate quote for that too.

    32A Commando socket install

I am about to take delivery of an EV. I'm likely to be moving by the end of the year so spending circa £1k on a domestic charger will not deliver a return on the mileage I am likely to do. The car comes with its own "mobile charger" which is 7.4kw capable. I have a modern consumer unit with Schneider Isobar Acti9 125A. There is a first generation Rolec EV EVWP0020 charger already connected to the CU via a 32A breaker. I have a SMETS2 smart meter and they are all adjacent on the inside of the garage wall by the garage door where the car will be parked. What additional components (surge protection/breakers) might I need to install a 32A rated (blue) commando socket? What would be a reasonable estimate for this job?
