Gable End Restraint/Straps
Hi, buying a 1970s house and survey reports: "End restraint is inadequate to the roof structure and gable wall straps should now be fitted, to connect the roof structure to the end walls. These are galvanised steel connectors which should be spaced along the roof and ceiling timbers at maximum of 2-metre intervals. They should be sufficiently long to be fixed to three of the roof timbers and have suitable noggins between the roof timbers." How much would this work cost approximately? Can the straps be attached to the brick, rather than making a hole to get strap through?
Holes in roof felt
There are a few holes in our roof felt. Does the whole lot need replacing or can it be patched?
Exhaust Vent in Soffit
There's a bathroom exhaust vent above my bedroom window on the first floor which looks awful, you can even see the duct inside when you're looking up from the garden. I want to get rid of it but I can't afford to replace the whole soffit. I was wondering if replacing just that section of the soffit above the window is an option or if there's another way to repair it. The current soffit is made of UPVc.
cost of replacing 15 linear metre area of aluminium guttering for uPVC
I have a 15 linear metre area of guttering along the front of my house and the same coverage along the back of my house. In both cases it is aluminium guttering that is present. I’d like to have both areas (so 30 metres in length of gutters altogether) replaced with uPVC guttering. How much can I expect to pay a guttering installer to perform this work in terms of their installation fee? And how much will the new gutters cost? What about the cost of removing the old guttering? Am I best hiring a skip or will most professionals sort this out for me and I pay them a charge as part of my overall bill? I’d just like to know how this works. Thanks for your time.

Do I need council permission to alter my roof or does it come under permitted development.
Chimney leak and lead flashing
I have a lead coming in from the chimney area, comes down from the top. I have soakers but no step flashing -is this an issue ?
sandtoft rivius antique clay tile
has anyone used these fake slate clay tiles ? are they recommended ? approx cost for 1930's 3 bed hip roof semi plus area over bay/front door , 70-75 m2. , replacing welsh slate.....obviously new membrane / batons / ridges reqd.
