How much roughly would it cost to have 3 slates fixed on my roof?
What are asphalt composite shingles and should I purchase some? Can I install this DIY?
A few of our slate tiles have been temporarily fixed by a handyman using some kind of metal hook. How long can we leave these in place before they need a proper fix?
How Much Would It Cost To Point A Chimney Stack And A Half On A Semidetached House.Plus Remove Chimney Cowls And Replace With Owners New Cowls,An There Is Also A Tile That Has Been Dislodged And A Small Leak On The Back Of The House.
My neighbour has just had a new roof but upon looking from the outside and inside, it doesn’t seem to have been finished off. I have masses of daylight coming through the gap and is now a wind trap. There is a gap of which I estimate to be about 5 cm between where our tiles finish and from what I can see there isn’t a bonding gutter either. It also looks like they have used some kind of foam on their side to keep the tiles in place and create a ‘seal’ for them but nothing on mine. My roof was sound before this and I would have thought that it would be the responsibility of the roofer/neighbour to ensure that my roof would be left in tact and not open to the elements. I do have pictures from Inside the loft.
Hi, Having water ingress to upstairs box room via an air brick / vent from the roof. Looks like the roof lining material above the air brick is rotten or broken away and water is coming in around or through the tiles onto what seems to be just a tile on top of the air brick cavity hole. It is then soaking into the wall and entering the box room. There are also a couple of small punctures in the roof lining in that are but further back into the loft a little which also leak. It's almost like the tiles are having no effect. The air vent is troubling as it just has a tile as the top of the cavity ( is that normal?). Would we have to take all the tiles off and reline everything on that side of the roof or can just the bottom tiles and lining be replaced?
What is a green roof? What are its pros and cons? Thanks!
What is a butterfly roof and when is it generally used?
My neighbour is replacing his roof, as we are terraced property they have split the houses in half. I have mentioned a buttering gutter to protect against weather, covering the join area, can anyone advise if any building regulations are in place covering the installation of buttering gutter, as they will start retiling next week
I live in the ground floor flat, and my neighbours on the 1st floor flat - above them there is the roof. We are both leaseholders of our separate flats, and by contract the ownership of the roof belongs to them. The roof has multiple holes, and due to a recent storm tens of tiles have slipped down causing enough damage that when it rains, it rains heavily into my flat, as well as theirs. I spoke to them and as they are planning to move out at some point in the future, they refuse to carry out any maintenance work. We are paying into an insurance that covers repairs, but they would have to pay up to £2000 of extra, which they refuse to do also. I am extremely concerned by this situation and would like to know how to convince them to take care of repairing the roof?
