Hello, I've got a flat roof on a garage connected to the house that needs replacing. I'm looking to replace the felt with rubber roof. However, there is a window with a terrorcota sill on the house that sits just above the existing roof and along the wall is a bellcast next to it. Any advice on how to install the flashing that will works with the window and materials needed is much apreciated. Thanks
How long does the timber below roof shingles tend to last? Does it depend on the type of wood? And if so, could you give me an idea of what applies to each option? What are the pros and cons of each type of underlaying timber for roof shingles? Thanks for your time!
There's no lead flashing around my chimney, just cement. Is this OK? I haven't noticed any problems, but I thought all joins/edges had lead flashing.
I live in a semi detached house. My neighbour recently got their half of the roof retiled. Their roofer has tiled their half up to the boundary of our property, leaving a couple inch gap and a partition strip fully on my side. Surely this can't be right. What is the correct way for the joint between the semis to be done? I'm assuming it was done this way as it was easier to remove full tiles but that's not my problem.
Is it possible to change a flat roof to a pitch roof on a single storey extension?
What's the best type of roof insulation boards to use? Is thicker always better?
Does where you live affect the feasibility of a given roofing design or/and material option?
I have had a fall of fine sooty debris from the roof on to the loft floor. The fall covered an area of approximately 1.5 metre diameter. What might the potential cause be and what solutions might be appropriate?
How do you get rid of black stains that are streaked along a roof? Is this an easy issue to solve DIY or am I best hiring a professional? Are there any products in particular that I should use? Cheers in advance.
Hello, I’m wondering if you have any advice. My house had curved ceilings upstairs, which the last two winters have had bad condensation/water once it gets cold outside. Is this made worse by putting the heating on? The house is very cold particularly on the one side, which sees the worst of the condensation. From previous advice it’s something to do with a large uninsulated gap where the curve has been put into the ceilings. Do you have any advice long term and short term? Thank you, Emily
