hiring a heating engineer in Liverpool

I am based in Liverpool and I’d like to hire a heating engineer to sort out a radiator. Basically, the issue is that it's cold in different spots. How much will it likely cost to hire a professional to come out and fix this problem? Is it likely to be a small issue or might it be more serious? Any of your thoughts/advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated as the more I know/have in mind before hiring anyone, the easier everything could be.

Should I use scrim tape on hairline cracks before skimming?

Hello all We have recently stripped wallpaper from a wall as part of our renovations and found some hairline cracks along the plaster. (The plaster itself is still completely solid and no loose sections to worry about.) I had been advised to use scrim tape for hairline cracks in plaster. Before priming the walls to be skimmed, should these cracks be sealed with scrim tape, before the walls are primed to be skimmed? Is there any risks to the plaster over the long term by using the scrim tape? If anyone has any other suggestions for hairline cracks, besides re-plastering the section, please let me know.

earthing a grid plate on a modular light switch

I am currently replacing a 2 gang light switch in my hall with a 3 gang modular switch. i.e. there are 3 separate switch modules which are mounted on a metal grid plate, which is then fixed to the back box and then a face plate fitted over the front. The instructions are minimal (no wiring diagrams are given) but they say the metal grid plate which the switch modules are mounted on must be earthed using the earth terminal on it. Is the grid plate earthed by connecting a yellow/green sheathed wire from the grid plate terminal to the earth terminal on the back box? This gives 4 earth connections to the back box, 1 from the grid + 3 from the incoming switch cables?

    Rendering uneven walls

I need to render a partial extension and some other repair work. The issue I have is the walls are uneven and there are slight differences in where the brickwork and blocks come out to. When putting the scratch coat on can it be thicker in sections to try and even it out or do I need to put a coat on, let it dry then put another scratch coat on top? What's the best way of dealing with rendering the uneven walls?
