I'm installing a door canopy. Will drilling into the lintel above my door damage it or compromise its strength?

"This will all depend on what lintel is existing if this is a concrete lintel is never ideal to drill into it as just compromises its strength if this is a Katnich lintel it can be drilled into using metal or self drilling screws my advice will be to always draw above the lintel for your canopy if possible"

"A few small holes will not compromise the structural integrity of your lintel. They are often well over engineered for most house"
