Can I use floor paint for a tile effect on laminate floors?

I have a large floor area which features a slate tile effect and is a dark grey colour.
I would like to give it a glossier look and have some glossy floor paint that could work to give it a brighter, shinier look.

Would this be recommended on laminate flooring? And if so, is there any special preparation I should make for painting laminate flooring?

Many Thanks

"Laminate flooring is reconstituted wood and hence is very prone to water ingress (it's like a sponge ). If you are going to paint over laminate flooring, then first scratch/key/sand using 60/80 grit sandpaper, then use MDF primer (apply thin coats using a brush, using a roller leaves a stippling effect like an orange peel). Then you can apply your paint, making sure to brush very thin coats, rather than one thick coat( which would crack after a rapid change in temperature)"

"That’s a no no, laminate will soak up the paint and where it sticks it will soon enough peel off"

"No. To paint on anything like a laminate you would need to prime and undercoat it really well and to do that with a clear coat I don't think anything exists. Also, your laminate flooring is a high traffic area so will wear. It's a big no. It will all peal up and look terrible."

"You can paint laminate flooring however you need to sand it very well so the undercoat keys to the floor then it is recommended to roller the floor to prevent brush marks."

"No, the laminate will soak the paint and destroy the flooring"

"Make sure you give the flooring a good sand down and apply primer before your chosen paint."
