How much do carpet installers charge to move furniture in the UK?

I'm helping my parents get some new carpets, but I am getting some surprising quotes for just moving the furniture! What is normal here per room in a 2 bed terrace

It depends on the amount of furniture but around 30.00 for standard furniture.  We always ask you to move all ornaments,pictures and breakables yourself

No more than £50. One would need to move any fragile items themselves to keep them safe. But yes if anyone says. More than £50 it’s a bit excessive.

WE CHARGE ON AVERAGE £10/£15 PER ROOM LARGE ITEMS,  SMALLER VALUABLE  ITEMS SHOULD BE MOVED  PRIOR TO INSTALATION

Will be more if there’s a uplift of the old carpet/underlay also

There’s no fixed price, but typical charges are:
	•	£10–£25 per room for light furniture (beds, sofas, wardrobes emptied)
	•	£30–£50+ per room if furniture is heavy, full, or awkward
	•	Some fitters don’t offer furniture moving at all for insurance reasons

Prices are higher if:
	•	Furniture needs emptying
	•	There are stairs involved
	•	Large wardrobes are included

Many installers will reduce or remove the charge if furniture is already moved or only minimal items remain. Always worth asking exactly what’s included in the quote.
