What ratio builders sand to cement for grouting paving slabs (Indian stone)
I own the top floor flat in a converted Victorian house in London. We think we need to replace the roof. I know that flats do not have "permitted development" rights so in principle we need planning permission. But do we need permission if it is a "like for like" replacement? What counts as "like for like"?
Hi all, We’ve had some pipes replaced recently by a professional plumber to resolve some problems. Although, the issues have been resolved, I’ve since noticed the pipes themselves are plastic – I have some concern about this as these are pipes connected directly and indirectly to the radiators and the boiler. Given the heat that could be involved, this is a concern to me – is this normal to have plastic piping used like this nowadays?
Is it better to get plasterboard or plaster over brick walls in bedroom?

I want to completely remove an old electric bar heater from my bathroom wall for tiling and don't want to reconnect anything, is it safe to cut the wires, tape them and then push them back through the wall?
Recently I have purchased a new plaster ceiling rose (approx. 90cm in diameter) and I will be having a room re-plastered and decorated in the coming weeks. The decorator I have hired has not had much experience with installing ceiling roses and certainly not one as large/heavy as this one. If anyone has any experience with this, could they please recommend the best options to install it safely and successfully. Many Thanks, P
We have a fitted kitchen with standard height worktop. We need to replace a dishwasher from a Fisher Paykell dish drawer type to a Miele integrated one. So we need to get a new front door piece for the integrated machine. We have had difficulty sourcing a door from the kitchen supplier so were looking at a Miele stainless steel one 60cm wide X 72cm but our kitchen doors are 77cm. To me this looks as if the dishwasher front will look strange as the lower edge of it will sit higher than the lower edge of the doors. Is there a way round this?
