My garden is sloped but I would like to put a veg patch and perhaps some decking. What are the steps to leveling a garden? Size of garden is about 6 metres wide and 10-12 metres long.
We are looking at converting our downstairs laundry room into an ensuite. The room used to be a bathroom so plumbing and drainage should already be there. Also need to block off a door and make a new one on the other wall. How much are we looking at?
Hi, I need to replace 5 internal doors with something like in the below link. https://www.diy.com/departments/cottage-primed-white-woodgrain-effect-lh-rh-internal-door-h-1981mm-w-686mm/175402_BQ.prd What would be the cost to fit/size and put door handles on?
We have a leak and invited a roofer to repair who quickly recommended changing the flashing around the chimney stack. It has improved but continues to rain in but the roofer has advised he can't identify the source of the leak even though we have made some suggestions. Should it be so hard to find? The leak is all around the stack.
How much would it be roughly for someone to come out and shorten 9 doors, since the carpets have been fitted the doors no longer swing so need a small amount taken off each and the door hung again?
We are replacing a 3kw single oven with a 3.6kw single oven. The current oven is simply plugged in. Can we do the same with the new oven? If not how much will it cost to convert the existing socket to one suitable for a 3.6 kW oven?
I'm just wondering if you can plaster and render over wood. I have an exposed wooden lintel above a window that needs rendering on and wood around an open plan doorway that's been removed that would ideally be plastered on. What would i need to plaster. render on the 2 areas? Is there something i can put over so the plaster/render with attach to? Thanks,
I’m looking to raise part of the ceiling in my kitchen, it’s not under a bedroom or other room as it’s in part of the front of the house that sticks out separately, almost like a front extension(?). It’s maybe a foot lower than the rest of the room and there’s one dividing wall to take into account. Would this be a fairly straightforward job or even possible?
I have some building experience – was suspicious of Damp Proof Courses from a structural viewpoint, but I’d like to be sure if this is the case. I’ve has some experience with building work in the past and have heard about various issues with using DPC’s. I know they are typically just black plastic sheets between brick/stonework a few courses up from the foundation, to stop the damp rising from the ground up, but I don’t know how much of a problem this really is. I’ve been told about they can cause a wall that is in construction to be knocked over with a small bump. It worries me that the wall integrity is affected by these sheets. It worries me how easy they can cause a wall to be shifted – I don’t want to use them if they are an additional risk. Does anyone know any more about whether DPC’s compromise the integrity of the walls? Have you had any issues that they have caused? Are they worthwhile for the sake of just avoiding damp?
Hi guys, I have this room that (painted in typical UK white colour) have small scratches and stains here and there and I am looking to DIY and paint these small spots as there’s no need to repaint the whole room but so far all the paints I have tried seems to be a different shade of white than what the room was painted with originally. I have tried: - Johnstone's - Paint Tester Pots - Wall & Ceiling Paint - White Lace - Emulsion Paint - Easy to Apply - Dry in 1-2 Hours Dulux Walls & Ceilings Tester Paint, White Cotton, 30 ml Dulux Tester Paint, White Mist, 30 ml (Pack of 1) Please help. I need the name of that typical UK white paint used for rooms walls and ceilings. Thank you for your help.
