I am having an internal wall taken down and RSJ put in but i would like the RSJ to be flush to the ceiling. The builder has said he needs to cut the joist back and then will re-join with 300mm joist screwed to the orgional ones and then hand these on the RSJ, is this strong enough ? or should bolts and longer pieces of timber used.. if bolts how many per joist should be used.
I am wanting to do a DIY garage conversion. Our garage is detached and we want to convert into two bedroomed accommodation. Looking for advice on planning and building regulations.
I am considering a loft conversion by going into the loft by putting the velux windows. This would mean the staircase will be installed by taking space from a small room. Can you share a typical cost of such a lft conversion in London? How long would it take? I am assuming for a semi-detached house, you don't need planning permission but only satisfy the building control and presumeably a party wall.
My neighbour has a new roof, they have not said how they were joining the 2 roofs, or asked any permission to move our tiles, when I looked up and asked why they had a divider installed wonky / top bowing towards our roof, if I could add a pic I could show you, they argued my roof tiles aren't straight, but before they removed them roof was fine, it will be the only roof I have seen without a straight line down, can they do this?
Is it possible to smooth out a popcorn/textured ceiling and how much does this usually cost per sq/f? I live in London.
Does glow in the dark flooring exist? How much does it generally cost?
How long after getting planning permission can we leave it until we start our loft conversion?
Was just looking for indicative prices for a loft conversion for a mid terrace house with pitch roof please. Just to be turned into a third bedroom. Not sure if we'd go for Dorma or Velux style. At the moment we're not fully sure that it's something we want but would really appreciate some information on costings to help us with our decision. Loft is 3.62m wide, 9.1m deep and 3.1m high.
I need to have a drive built with permeable regulations . What are the best materials allowed.
