Disappearing channels on Sky

Some channels intermittently disappear on my Sky Box even though I am fully subscribed to the Sky package. Do you know why this could be happening? Is it related to Sky or more likely to do with my satellite dish? If the latter is the case, what should I do about this? How can it be fixed?

"Try phoning sky. To see if it’s some thing there end. Or if you sky has not long been put in. And there something wrong with it. Sky should do this free."

"You have a signal problem with your satellite dish, it can be easily fixed with a call out from an engineer.

"Channels are broadcast on different frequencies and have different settings so in most cases it would be a weak or poor signal that is causing your problems, I would recommend a signal test to establish the root of the problem, dish alignment and or a new LNB or down cable would probably rectify this. feel free to call us for free tech advice"

"Hi Heather, it could mean that one of your cables from the dish has water damage. Depending if you have sky q or just sky had. That is usually if you can get BBC1 but not BBC2 or the other way round. I have a meter so I am happy to come and have a look this afternoon. Our call out is £50, that is to diagnose the problem. should you decide to go ahead with any repairs if necessary, the £50 is deducted from the price.

"Needs a new LMB on the end of the dish and readjust the dish"

"This could be due to many things. The best thing to do is call an engineer to check your signals on your dish.
If signals good they will be able to reset your sky box to update the system.
If it is a signalling issue then they can advise on new dish or LNB etc."

"Hi there I’m pretty sure this is do for with the dish , the LNB on the dish is faulty possibly rain has got in that’s why it’s intermittent . You need to get someone to check first the wiring at the back of your receiver and the wiring and LNB of your dish ."

"The reason you are loosing channels is because the dish will be faulty"

"The message on the screen, when selected a “lost” channel will be the answer.

If “call now to upgrade to this channel” or similar is on the screen then it’s a package problem.

If “you’re not receiving a satellite signal” is displayed then your dish is out of alignment."

"Could be a number of things mainly the lnb on the end of dish"

"Hi Jenny,

There are several faults that can cause intermittent loss of channels.
You would really need to have the dish tested for signal strength and quality to eliminate this as being the cause of the fault.
As you subscribe to a Sky package they should send an engineer to check and resolve the fault."

"Good morning. The problem is most likely your dish which could need a slight realignment or a new lnb depending on when it was installed or last maintained. The age of your box may also be an issue if you’re using Sky digital.

A free Pride AV Ltd diagnostic on your system would better determine your your problem.

I hope this has helped.

Kind regards.

"It's possible the signal is being blocked, interruption with the wave from eg wind. The dish may need repositioning"
