Pulley cord not pulling down

Pulley cord for bedroom light not pulling down Cord still on fitting on the ceiling, what could be wrong?

Sounds like the cord got stuck as the switch mechanism got a little overused. It will need replacing. Should not be expensive."

"The pull cord has a spring return mechanism. If you gently pull it down and slightly stretch the cord (but not too much) then let it spring back in this may re-engage the spring mechanism. If this does not work then a new pull cord is required."
