  • Building a bug hotel

My son wants to build a ‘bug hotel’ for insects in the garden. He’s crazy about insects and insists that I take every measure to ensure they’ll be okay! So what steps can I take to make sure our bug hotel is insect friendly? I know that’s not a question you’ll probably get every day haha! Thanks.

    How to cover Asbestos Artex

We have a few Artex ceilings that have been confirmed to contain asbestos. A local builder said he would overboard and then plaster and didn't seem too concerned about the asbestos. Would you not have to make holes to find the joists, disturbing the asbestos if you were to overboard? They said they wouldn't want to plaster directly on top because the current cracks will come through. I just wanted to get a 2nd opinion?

    Party wall notice

I’m in the process of getting a loft conversion and my neighbours are tenants. I’ve spoken with the tenants and they’re okay with the loft conversion. Should I still serve the landlord with a party wall notice and do landlords don’t care about stuff like this. I don’t fancy going down the hole of getting a party wall agreement and getting party wall surveyors involved. Any and all advice is appreciated.

    Underfloor heating advice

Hi. I’m hoping to have underfloor heating installed at some point. I just wanted to learn a bit more about them first. For instance, is it possible for a UFH pipe to leak beneath my floor and what precautions could I take to a) reduce this risk and b) be able to detect/know that this is the case, should there be an underfloor leakage? Thanks for your time.

Removing hob and replace with cooker

Hi I want to replace a hob and put a free standing range cooker there but the quartz top needs cutting each side of the hob to allow the cooker to fit. I’ve had 3 trades men say oh sorry I can’t cut the quartz? I am trying without any luck to find why this is such a problem? Any advice greatly appreciated xxx
