Is it legal to have a garage constructed over gas pipes beneath the ground? How does planning permission rules and building regulations affect this?

"One can check with ;
The Building Regulations .
The Gas Regulations .
Any gas pipe going through a wall must be in a sleeve .
This is the gas pipe inside another pipe .
This offers protection .
The Regulations underground are there for specific reasons .
I have my own knowledge and opinion .
However Councils have their own Building Control departments and use Building Inspectors .
Gas Safe.They have their own inspectors .
My advice is to contact both and that way you get the information you require"

"A trade man can not just start building over a gas pipe under the ground without first consulting the local authority to fine out if its safe to do so. All necessary checks will be carried out and make sure it is wise to do so ."
