How do I make a pergola with climbing plants low maintenance? Can I use metal instead of wood? Will plants be able to climb up? And what climbing plants need the least pruning etc?
My family and I moved into a new house recently. There is old decking at the end of the garden and we’d prefer to have an all grass garden. If we have the old decking removed, is there any chance that grass will grow again there? My partner and I asked the previous owners and they said the decking has been there since the early 2000s. Or we will have to install artificial grass instead?
I have painted my decking with fence paint not knowing you can buy decking paint, so can I paint on top of the fence paint with the decking paint
What is the hourly and daily rate of a gardener in the southeast of England? I am looking to hire someone to perform a thorough clean up but I’d like to know what prices to expect first before I start requesting quotes. That way I’ll know if I've been given a decent price. Thank you.
My garden where I want decking is uneven and gets a bit soggy in heavy rain Would I be able to fit support posts with postcrete 700mm down? Would this be sufficient or would the wet ground be too much?
I am looking to have a new path across a pebble area in my garden and currently I am considering block paving and pattern imprinted concrete. Does anyone have some advice or past experience with these over a longer period of time? Ideally, it should be a long-lasting solution to be kept for several years to come. I have heard that imprinted concrete can crack and split over time due to use and erosion – is this the case, and if so, are there any reasonable preventative measures I could take?
My cordyline has stopped growing and the leaves look dull rather than vibrant. What can I do to help give it a boost?
I want to landscape the garden of my rented home without making permanent changes. What can I do to make the lawn and borders look less boring?
Can you explain to me what distinguishes a perennial from an annual in gardening?
Do you always need to add top soil when laying new turf down? Or is it only when you need to level out the area?
