what would you suggest to lay a shed floor on. Can you also allow for a soak away to stop any ingress of water into the new shed, currently happening. Your advice would be very much appreciated. Many thanks Nina
We have a 3.5m x 3.5m conservatory on the back of our house, that is useless in both the summer & winter months. The footings are 600mm deep, with a double skin dwarf wall of 12 courses of brick (block inner skin). My question is, can I remove the conservatory frame, glass and poly carb roof etc, and build an insulated timber frame, clad in hardiplank (or similar), with a tiled roof. It would have one big window on the front, and French doors in the same location as they are now. The internal doors into the house are external grade uPVC French doors. We just want a space that can be used more of the year than the useless conservatory can at the moment!!
How long might it take to have a 20-25 square metre conservatory constructed?
What permissions and documents do I need for a Chimney breast removal in a first floor bedroom? The chimney breast is on a shared wall of a 1930s semi-detached house. The downstairs living room chimney breast has already been removed - should there be a certificate for how structurally sound this removal was when it was removed? (We are buying this house)
Who should I contact to fix a sinking first floor? The first-floor floor of my terraced house is sagging around 1 meter squared between the bedroom and the ensuite bathroom. Thanks in advance
I am hoping to move around some of the rooms in a house I just bought, and I wanted to move the bathroom to the front of the house. If the toilet is on the same wall as my front door, will I need a waste pipe at the front of my house? I’m hoping there are other options!
Can you explain to me precisely what the difference is between planning permission and building regulations? Is one more expensive than the other?
is the chimney breast removal that was done to my house before i even bought it safe
Would like 3/4 air bricks put in to help ventilation under a kitchen and conservatory void. Solid stone walls in a an 1890s West Yorkshire house. I've no real idea how big of a job it is, so interested in knowing anything I need to before looking to hire
We’ve got a single garage that’s just full of junk, and I’m tempted to turn it into a spare room (bedroom, extra living area). But I'm not clear on whether this actually adds any value to the house if we were to move in a few years. Is there anyone who does garage conversions who can give me an overview of cost vs value added?
