Neighbours builder damaged my property

Question

I gave permission for a scaffolding pole to rest briefly on our side and the contractor ended up damaging our fence. Who's responsible for sorting the repair?

Whoever put the scaffolding up is at fault, if it’s in your garden etc it’s your problem if it’s your neighbours garden then it’s her problem , best way is ask the scaffold company.

Your neighbor should pay for it to be put right , they should have got your permission to put up scaffolding on your side .

Damage caused by a contractor’s actions must be repaired by the contractor (or their public‑liability insurance), regardless of whether you granted access.

If the fence was damaged by the contractor or scaffolding company during the works, they should be responsible for putting it right. Permission to rest the scaffold on your side does not normally transfer liability for accidental damage. The first step would be to notify both the contractor and your neighbour, provide photographs of the damage, and request that the repair is arranged through the contractor or their insurance if necessary.

The Neighbour is responsible as you done them the favour and they are the ones that had the works carried out. If they didn't have the scaffolding it wouldn't of happened.

It looks like the contractor is at fault..he should repair your fence clearly he is at fault there get in contact with him soon..

I'd say the builder is liable for the damage as he is the contractor of the job and thats why public liability insurance is needed.
