How much cement do you need for 1m3 of concrete?

I'm mixing my own concrete for a shed base instead of ordering it in. How many bags of cement per cubic metre?

If you mean 1 m³ of concrete, the number of 20 kg cement bags depends on the mix.

A typical 1:2:4 concrete mix (cement : sand : aggregate) uses roughly 300–350 kg of cement per m³.

300 kg ÷ 20 kg = 15 bags
350 kg ÷ 20 kg = 17.5 bags

👉 So allow 15–18 × 20 kg bags of cement per 1 m³ of concrete.

If you're mixing mortar, screed, or a specific concrete strength (e.g. C20/25 or C25/30), tell me which and I can give you the exact amount.

If only for a shed base, your mix will not to be as stong as for other uses. Expect to use somewhere in the region of 15 25kg bags if mixing at A 1:2:3 ratio of cement, sand, gravel.

Depends on size of base. 
Eg...6×4shed base,   I use 1bag Cement with 2 bag of builders sand or harder. 
Too much Cement would Crack in long run. Also the longer it sets, the harder it gets over time.

16-20 bags of cement, depending how strong you want it, I would recommend 3-1, 3 parts ballast, 1 part of cement

For a typical shed base mix, roughly 300–350kg of cement per cubic metre of concrete, so around 12–14 x 25kg bags. That’s assuming a general-purpose mix – exact amounts depend on your cement/ballast ratio. For 1m³ it’s a fair bit of mixing by hand!

1:2:4 mix (cement : sand : aggregate), you’d be around 320 kg, or about 13 × 25 kg bags but need give the depth or thickness you want it to get accurate quantities.
