    We went to view a terraced house we're interested in buying and noticed a brown stain in the ceiling of the second bedroom. The condition of the roof from the outside looked suspect. Is it possible this brown stain is coming from the poor roof? It didn't appear damp but the ceiling was supposedly newly decorated so strange that this has appeared.

    Does new flashing need to be fitted?

    I have a flat roof extension to the rear which has lead flashing where the main house joins the roof of the extension. I am about to have 100mm of external insulation and render fitted. Should new flashing be provided on to the new render, or will the existing flashing still be ok.

    Radiators turning on when hot water used

    Why do my radioators turn on when the hot water tap is turned on? We've turned the dial on the boiler to "water only" but it hasn't worked. We have an ideal combi boiler.
