Why have my paving slabs become uneven?

In my garden I have some paving slabs, laid a few years ago, which have become increasingly uneven since then. The paving itself seems fine apart from some wearing around the edges. Does anyone know why this happens or how it could be fixed easily? Or even, if anyone knows how I can prevent this happening again in future? I have been told that adding ‘sharp sand’ beneath the slabs to fill beneath can help even it – or would it be best to re-lay the slabs with some new sand underneath? Thanks, Mo

Can tile paint be used on a radiator?

Hi All, I hope this isn’t too silly to ask, but can I paint my radiator using tile paint? It’s just to cover some rusty patches where the paint has flaked off. I don’t have any other paint available right now, but don’t know if there is any special paint I should be using and I’m cautious it might affect the radiator working. Many thanks, K

What is the correct mortar mix for a brick BBQ?

Hi all I am working on building my own brick barbecue at the moment. I have a completed base of concrete and now trying to sort a good mortar mix. I’ve been told to use a ratio of 6:2:1 of sand:lime:cement, but does not seem to have turned out as I had hoped which dries exceptionally quickly and does not bind with the bricks to stick together. Has anyone any advice or suggestions? Should I try a different ratio for the mix?

What is the best way to clean or repair patches on stonework?

Hello I have stone walls for my house which have been damaged and eroded over time that may need refiling, with some small patches of decolourisation in some areas from erosion/damage over time. These are Bath stone walls specifically and, where possible, I would like to resolve this myself. Are there any suitable materials that I can use without damaging the stonework?
