  • Bathroom conversion

Hi I have a small toilet and sink next to a small bedroom. The bathroom is downstairs. How much would it roughly cost if possible to move the bath and shower into the bedroom space....knocking down the wall in between to make a big bathroom. If that makes sense

    Bricking over a concrete path

I am currently planning my garden design, I want to brick over the current concrete paths so that new paths will all be uniformed with the exsisting paths. I can't afford to do all the paths at once, so want to make sure that when I do the paths, the borders, lawn area and patio are all at the same height as it needs to be wheelchair friendly. So my question is how much height do I need for bricks on top of concrete? Guessing its just sand then the bricks and then sand in the gaps but not sure the deph of base sand needed. Any advice welcome. Thank you.

Cost to rewire spotlights to central hanging light

Just bought a flat and before we re-plaster the ceilings we are considering changing the spotlights in the living room and possibly two bedrooms to a central hanging light in each room. Roughly how much would it cost to remove spotlights and rewire them to a central light per room?

    Building storage under the stairs

We want to build storage under the stairs but we're not sure what makes best use of the space. Do you think building in a cupboard, shelves or pull-out storage is better?

replacing a shower in rented housing

When it comes to renting, if I as a tenant would like to make some non-essential changes to my apartment (e.g. replace the shower), is it up to me to pay for the cost entirely? If a landlord approves of a shower upgrade, is he/she liable to help out with the payment to any extent or is it entirely up to me to cover the cost?

No water coming out of the hot tap

The radiators weren't heating up properly. I bled the radiators (which didn't actually have any air in them, so were ok). I added some pressure (too much... so bled a radiator again till it was 1.4 bar (cold). Boiler played up so had to turn it off and on a few times. Heating was then able to come on (still only little heat so may possibly be sludge or something in radiators). Key thing, however, is that then, when I turned the hot tap on, nothing came out at all.... nor since. Pls can someone advise me! No hot water in during this cold snap is not fun. Particularly at the weekend! Thanks.

    Can you plaster over paint?

We've had the walls painted and then decided we want to skim them to get a perfectly smooth finish. Does the paint need to come off first? What are the steps that a plasterer would take here?
