"To create an ombre effect on walls using emulsion, follow these steps:

Choose two or more paint colors for the ombre effect.

Paint the wall with the lightest color and let it dry completely.

Dilute the second color with water to create a lighter shade.

Using a paint roller, start applying the second color from the top of the wall towards the bottom, blending the two colors together.

Repeat the process with additional colors, making sure to blend the colors together and to add more water to the paint to create a lighter shade as you move down the wall.

Continue until you reach the desired ombre effect.

Let the paint dry completely.

Note: You may need to apply multiple coats to achieve the desired opacity"

"Creating the ombre effect will require blending two sections of the painted wall, and you'll need the paint to remain wet to do it well. Prime the Wall Cover the wall with an even coat of white primer, using a standard roller and paintbrush. Beginner painters should consider using painter's tape."

"Ombre painting technique
Step 1. Measure and mark a line on the wall where you want the two colours to blend using the coloured chalk.
Step 2. Apply the lighter paint colour to the top part of the wall with the roller and allow to dry.
Step 3. Apply the darker paint colour to the bottom half of the wall with the other roller (don’t worry about getting a perfectly straight line between the colours). Allow to dry.
Step 4. Get an extra pair of hands to help you with this step! Use a roller loaded with the darker colour to create a band of fresh paint just below the line, while your helping hand uses a brush to create a fresh band of your light colour just above it.
Step 5. Use the same brush to blend the colours together while they are still wet using a criss-cross brush stroke to get a good blended effect. Blend the colours in one-metre sections at a time and don’t let the paints dry out. And there you have it – a statement ombre wall!"

"It's quite tricky and I'd advise on getting a professional to carry out the work to get the desired look .. 😊

You would have a better chance trying a ombre mural you will have more chance of getting it on the wall evenly and once on it'll look better 1st time , than 1st time paint mural
.
Plus it probably will work out cheaper than buying paint depending on Size of wall good luck 👍"

"Find more details on prepping your surface in our How To Paint a Room blog here.

It's important that the surface is prepped properly, this includes repairing any damages and ensuring the wall is fully clean and dry.

After your wall is ready to go, section it off from the other walls with decorating tape. If you're painting over a dark wall, we would also recommend doing one full coat of the lightest colour as a base at this stage.

2MEASURING UP

Measure the wall and divide into 3 even sections horizontally by marking with a pencil or chalk. Don't worry if the line isn't neat, it's simply a guide to show you where to stop with each paint colour.

3PREPARING THE PAINT

Pour out the 3 colours into separate paint trays and with a wide emulsion brush or roller apply your first colour. To create the most seamless colour transition, we’d recommend keeping the 3 shades as close to each other as possible.

TOP TIP

To create height in the room we recommend using the lighter colour at the top and gradually transitioning darker towards the bottom however this is completely up to you!"

"Using a first coat base coat of colour you’re intending on the background colour. The background colour has to be a silk vinyl or water-based eggshell as long as it has a shine to it so the emulsion your going to use to make your pattern can slip on top of
The top coat this way you can play with patterns and redo if not happy when creating patterns. Then finally finish off using a waterproof eggshell varnish to protect the final finish or a clear water based solution like glaze to put final finish more for a protective cover. Hopefully this will help you.
