"from new you can expect to get 7-10 good years, although they can and often do last longer 7-10 is about how long it will last before wear and tear starts to show or hinges etc start to suffer."

"Manufacturer should state longevity of product. Also to be considered is are they directly exposed to the elements 247? Sealers can be applied to maintain the doors and add extra longevity."

"whatever wood you decide to go with will make the difference, like hardwood will last longer than pine, but you can also make hardy pine last by putting a waterproof satin varnish or stain to enhance its durability."

"One of the largest contributors to the life expectancy of a garage door is the material itself. Many less expensive garage doors are made of composite plastics. While these are cost-effective and perfectly useable in the short term, these doors tend to have the shortest life expectancies. In contrast, higher-end garage doors tend to be made of either metal or solid wood. These materials involve a higher up-front investment but can result in doors which last years longer but will naturally need basic maintenance within this lifespan cycle such as lubricants, painting etcetera."
