How much do built in bookshelves cost?

We would like fitted shelving in the alcoves either side of the chimney breast. What would a carpenter typically charge for both alcoves in a Victorian terrace?

"Hi

With it being a bespoke build and not knowing how many shelves. I would suggest around £1k - £1.5k for supply and fit.

Also depends on if your wanting MDF, Hardwood, Softwood etc"

"Hi Caroline, I’d expect fitted shelving in both alcoves to be around £1,000–£1,500, depending on the size, number of shelves and finish required. A site visit and measurements would allow a tradesman to provide an accurate fixed quotation."

"Hi Caroline typical carpenter would probably charge you a day's pay approximately £200 depending on the number of shelves and type of material you could add another £40- £50 hope that's helpful.
Kind regards
David"

"Hi,depends on material you want to use and how many shelves needed.
I did mine from scaffold boards, sanded and charred.
Looks very rustic.
But you can use plain furniture sheets in colours or any timber like 8x2,9x2 or even 12x2 .
Measure sizes(height ,width, depth and quantity of shelves) and come back to me.
Labour would be app £100 per size if charred then £150"

"Hi Caroline,
It all depends on the size and capacity of the bookshelf. Also if you just want quote for labour or for labour and materials ( which is better really )but with the wood and the colour of your choice indeed)"

"For fitted shelving in both alcoves, I’d expect roughly £1,200–£2,500 depending on the size, design, materials and finish. Simple painted MDF shelving would be at the lower end, while cupboards underneath, hardwood details or a more bespoke finish will increase the price. In a Victorian property, uneven walls can also add a bit more labour."
