"It can be transplanted but I would wait until a frost free Nov. Be aware of Box Bight too."

"Hi Wilma,

I have always found that the best time of the year to move hedges is late autumn or early spring. As October is late autumn I would like to say it would be okay.

Hope this helps."

"Good evening,
If the conditions are right and you're able to dig enough soil with the root ball then there's a high chance of success if you transplant it. Transplanting at this time of year should allow the roots to start to establish ready for the next growing season.
Good luck

"Hello my name is Gary, Thanks for the question I’m happy to help and answer… So transplanting a box hedge (Buxus) successfully depends on the time of year and the local climate, but generally:

The Best Time Is: Early spring or early autumn which are typically the best times to transplant box hedges, as the weather is cooler and the plants are either coming out of dormancy or preparing for it.

Summer: Transplanting in the heat of summer can stress the plants due to increased water loss and heat.

Winter: Transplanting in the coldest months can be risky if the ground is frozen or if the plant is fully dormant.

Now if you’re currently in spring or early autumn, you can transplant your box hedge a foot further over with proper care:

Dig a planting hole slightly larger than the root ball.
Water Well: Water the hedge thoroughly a day before lifting.

Lift Carefully: Dig around the hedge to preserve as much root as possible.

Replant Quickly: Move and plant the hedge in its new position immediately.

Water After Planting: Water thoroughly and keep the soil moist while the plant establishes.

Mulch: Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate temperature.

If like me you are in the autumn heading to winter, it’s best to wait for a more suitable season to minimize transplant shock.

"Depends how big the box hedge is, how established it is (the age of the hedge) how rooted it is…."

"Yes, but it's best done in early autumn or late winter. Transplanting in July risks heat stress, so water well and provide shade if you must move it now."
