For a small commercial unit, I’d look at quality and specification rather than just the brand name. Good manufacturers to consider include Steinel, Collingwood, Ansell and Timeguard, all of which offer suitable commercial-grade LED security lighting.

For most small premises, I’d recommend an IP65-rated LED floodlight with a good-quality PIR sensor, adjustable detection range and adjustable time/lux settings. The light should be positioned to cover vulnerable areas such as entrances, loading doors, side passages and rear access points without shining directly into neighbouring properties or onto the highway.

Avoid very cheap floodlights, as the PIR sensors and power supplies are often the first components to fail and nuisance activation can become a problem.

If CCTV is installed, good lighting can also dramatically improve night-time image quality. For a commercial property, I’d have the lighting professionally installed and positioned as part of the overall security setup rather than simply choosing the brightest fitting available.
