Our alarm keeps beeping and showing a battery fault. Can I swap the battery myself or does an engineer need to do it?

Hi Adam, you can swap the battery yourself, the system  might go into tamper but all thats needed is a reset on the system, make sure you get the correct battery installed and size, recommend depending on the panel 12v 7amp yuasa but may be a 3.2 amp or even a 2.1 amp depending on your panel size.

Couple of factors to think about- your system may be programmed for an engineer reset, this means if you open the control panel the tamper alarm that results from this may not be resettable via your user code and will require an engineer. There is no way to tell if that’s the case unless it’s noted in your logbook. Secondly if you have a wireless system it may be a battery fault from a device rather than the control box.  Either way your best best is to get an engineer out to replace the battery and get the system serviced.

Depending on which alarm system you have. If you want to change battery you will need all correct code numbers and hopefully you haven’t got any tamper issues. If you have issues and it don’t reset you will need a local alarm engineer to come out.
