Security alarm in conservatory

Question

Is it worth adding a security alarm to a conservatory? If so, what brand would you suggest I go with? P.s. is it safe to have electrics in a greenhouse conservatory?

Hi Karen, yes it's worth adding Security to your Conservatory providing it's an area you want to protect. Yes, it's also safe to have electrics in there providing it's done properly. I'm just a little confused as to whether it's a Conservatory or a Greenhouse?! Don't worry too much about the brand. Please get in touch and we can discuss all the options available to you.

The best method is perimeter detection, contacts on windows etc , there is no problem with sensors in conservatory as they are low voltage, 12 volts or wireless with batteries

Hi Sharon,

Conservatories are fine to protect, you could either use a dual tech PIR which is suited for these environments or a perimeter protection ie, shock detectors spread equally across windows.

Adding an alarm sensor to you’re conservatory is advisable if you have equipment you would like to protect in there, also if the entrance to the house from the conservatory is not protected. I would suggest setting the sensitivity to low, as you may get false alarms if it detects movement outside.
