Roof connecting

I am having my roof done and we are an end terrace, therefore connected to another terrace house. My roofer has taken the mortar that was connecting the two roofs off to fix our problem and has found problems with weatherproofing with next doors roof. Should he have informed next door first of any potential problems before starting the work?

"No this is absolutely Normal as when completing work you do find underline issues when removing things to conclude the previous work that was supposed to be done therefore this is not a problem and they are more than right to tell you the issues as this can cause problems long-term"

"In theory yes, but in reality it's now up to the roofer to make sure your job is done correctly and also that next door doesn't have any future issues.
Most reasonable people will come to an arrangement but if next door don't, he has to put it right regardless now."

"Yes you and your roofer should of contacted the neighbour to make them aware of what is happening and what is going on with your roof before any work was carried out on your property or next doors"

"Because you never know with a roof once they come across the problem, then they tell the next door neighbour to see what he wants to do about it then try and resolve the situation"
