Replace by date on smoke alarm

I've just spotted a replace by date on my smoke alarm. I've pressed the test button and it still seems to work. Do I need to replace it or not?

"I would replace , the main consideration here is the battery life , also the components will degrade over time so yes it may work but why take the risk.
Cheers"

"Good afternoon, although the unit is still operating the manufacture has recommended the unit is replaced. If the unit is not replaced and there was an incident the manufacture will not guarantee safe operation. You could also find that your insurance company my refuse to pay out any claim.
I would suggest the unit be replaced asap."

"Normally with a replacement date on them . it will be a sealed unit with the back up battery inside where you cant replace , I personally would change it as it an indication the battery life is comming to an end"

"Hi Joyce,

It is always advisable to replace them once they have reached the expiry date as you can’t guarantee the functionality of the alarm. It may be down to the internal battery or sensor within the unit."

"Yes especially for insurance purposes. it will be the life efficiency of the backup battery inside."

"mains wired as well as battery operated devices should be replaced every ten years, or sooner if they do not respond properly when tested. The manufacturing industry also recommends that smoke detector heads should be replaced every ten years."

"There is no right or wrong answer legally if you own your own home if you are a tenant you need to let your landlord know as this will be looked at however electricians work to the manufacturer's recommendations so If I was in there looking at this I would recommend you change them as they don't tend to place these on for nothing and will know from testing before being manufactured that this is around their life span"

"Yes!
You should chance the CO2 alarm by date.
The sensor is sensitive and it gets damage after a while, or not performing at relevant standards."
