Plastic vs metal guttering

Question

Which is better, plastic or metal guttering? I think metal will be better for painting and strength but is plastic more durable?

Depends on the style of the property in my opinion if cast gutters are what was originally there I like to stick with those thay may take more maintenance but if looked after correctly can last a life time pvc gutters on the other hand need less maintenance and are a cheaper substitute and look grait on many different style properties

Hi Simon I do agree with you with metal have add both off mine changed front and back to seamless But plastic is that bit more durable.

Metal gutters are a lot more costly plastic are a lot more durable it totally depends on the customer budget

In my opinion it depends on the style of property and where it is situated? If its a modern property I would advise pvc Guttering or look alike cast iron. This is only because metal Guttering can be very expensive.

The whole point of metal gutter is maintenancefree. Therefore not painted. Powder coated prior to fixing it to build. .  Eg tenement. Whom are difficult to  service get aluminium Powder coated deep fLow or box guttering. . A domestic house will be served by plastic gutter. .metal is superior and dearer

Down to personal preference but plastic is cheap than metal but both still serve the same purpose. 
Personally I think metal ones on a residential property make it look more like a commercial property

Plastic is best easy to install, cheap, durable.
Old guttering was metal but nowadays everyone is shifting to plastic.
