How do I get a guarantee certificate for a new roof?

Our roof was replaced in the spring and the roofer keeps promising the guarantee paperwork but nothing ever turns up. We're hoping to sell next year. Is there a certificate he should have registered somewhere?

There isn’t usually one central guarantee certificate that every new roof gets registered for.

Normally the roofer should provide their own workmanship guarantee, and there may also be separate manufacturer warranties depending on the products used.

If Building Control was involved, there may also be a completion certificate, but that’s separate from the roofing guarantee.

I’d just contact the roofer in writing and ask them to send over whatever guarantee was agreed when the work was done. Since you’re planning to sell, it’s worth getting the paperwork together now rather than leaving it until later.

Hes guarntee is usually hes word against his company name unless it would be a guarntee usuing a certain product that would come with a certificate

He just needs to send you an officially marked guarantee stating years start date etc  and to be signed  by both

If your roofer promised, for example, a 10-, 15- or 20-year workmanship guarantee, they should give you the written guarantee/certificate and its terms. It isn't necessarily something automatically registered with the government.

Hi, yes, there should normally be paperwork confirming the roof replacement and any relevant Building Regulations compliance. The workmanship guarantee is separate and should also be provided by the roofer.

The roofer’s workmanship guarantee – this is a contractual guarantee provided by the roofer. There is no single national register for every roofing guarantee.

Paper work is easy but did you get your building control certificate they coem out twice for inspection and send you the sign off this isnt something roofers do its home owners who submit this if you have this selling your house is easy
