"Remove old skirting fit new wood skirting. Door frames should be replaced depending on damage. If don't have the money just rub down skirting with wet n dry paper and paint over. Dont do unnessary work if can afford it."

"Mick,
It is possible to clad or fit timber to or around most metal. After sanding rust off, treat with Rustoleum to help prevent coming back. I have fitted door linings, doors and architraves
within metal frames successfully."

"The metal can be rubbed down and treated with something like red oxide paint and of course they can be covered over with normal skirting"

"You my want to sand and put white hammer Ute on but if you don’t like the look . You can plant on some softwood timber to cover it with ark but you will be making the door opening smaller"

"You can line the old door frames with timber, but this reduces the opening"

"Yes i have done this in the past, skirting can go over this but would require more adhesive as it would be harder to pin it. Unless id pin it to the floor, so the answer - yes"
