Should skirting boards be flush with the floor when you install them?

"If the floor is very bad don't flush to floor use caulk to reduce the visible gap .. if the floor is perfect then yes"

"Generally yes, but dependent on how old the original floor is, there is always the possibility it isn’t perfectly level and there can be small gaps caused by humps or dips"

"Yes.but if your floor has lumps or bumps on it.a good joiner would over come this problem."

"Yes the boards should be touching the finished floor but you can get away with a couple of MM. if there is too much of a gap in certain areas the skirting would have to be scribed to the floor"
