How much to repair a leaking gutter joint?

One of the joints on our guttering has started dripping during rain. Is this a cheap fix, or is it worth replacing the whole section? It's accessible from a ladder

"If it’s plastic may just need new rubber seal £100
If it cast it may need more than just a seal on a joint as they will be movement in them as I try to reseal one which would lead to reselling al the joints"

"If it’s just leaking from the gutter join then it’s likely only the gutter join will need replacing so cost to replace this parts and labour wouldn’t be expensive at all I charge anything from £60 to £170 depending on location, accessablity to the roof ect"

"Hi Pete,

If it is just one leaking gutter joint and it is safely accessible from a ladder, it is usually a fairly small repair rather than a full replacement job.

The cause is often a worn rubber seal, a joint that has moved slightly, a loose clip, a blocked section, or guttering that has expanded/contracted and pulled away from the fitting. In many cases the joint can be cleaned, re-seated, sealed correctly or the union joint replaced.

As a rough guide, I would expect a small ladder-accessible gutter joint repair to commonly fall somewhere around £75–£150, depending on location, access and whether parts are needed. If more sections are loose, sagging, cracked, blocked, or the gutter is holding water due to poor fall, then it may be more.

I would only look at replacing the whole section if the guttering is brittle, badly faded/warped, cracked, poorly aligned, or if several joints/brackets are failing. Otherwise, one leaking joint is normally worth repairing first.

Kind regards,
Jimmy James

"About £40 to resell and 60 for new gutter joint but 9 time out of 10 it is the rubbers that is perished or uni joint is dropped"

"I presume the leak is where the pvc gutter is connected to a fitting.
The cheapest way is to clean around the joint then seal with aquaseal mastic.
The long term solution is t9 remove a section of gutter on one side of the fitting then replace the fitting with a new one then reconnect the section of gutter, either way is quite simple.

Kind regards
Patrick"

"We would have to have a look to see exactly where it is leaking if it's just a joint then we can replace that. If the guttering has been there for quite awhile and looks in bad shape, then I would save your money and replace the whole gutter which would give you a guarantee."

"If it’s just a leaking gutter joint, it’s usually a fairly cheap repair rather than replacing the whole run. Most repairs involve resealing or replacing the union joint and typically cost around £50–£150 depending on access and gutter type. If the guttering is old, warped, or cracked in multiple places, replacing a section may be more cost effective long term."
