How much does roof felt repair cost?

Does the cost of roof felt repair depend on how accessible it is? The felt area is at the back and a bit awkward to reach. Surely won't need to get scaffolding though?

"Yes access is a huge factor in quotations, any reputable roofer wont carry out any repairs without the appropriate access."

"Hi
It would depend on the size of the roof and the condition it’s in if a repair is viable we have our own aluminium scaffold towers as well as easy decking so most likely to access the area without the expense of hiring scaffold."

"Roof felt repair costs can vary quite a bit depending on where you are in the UK, how extensive the damage is, and whether you’re doing a small patch or a larger resurfacing/re-sealing job. Here’s a breakdown of typical costs as of 2025/2026:

💷 Typical Roof Felt Repair Costs (UK)

Minor/localised repairs
Small patch repairs (a few metres²) – around £80 – £350 for basic felt re-sealing or patching.

Flat roof patching by a roofer – around £200 – £500."

"Scaffolding is there for safety if it's needed it's needed.. that being said if there's small jobs that'll only take half a day I never shy away from ladders. But at the end of the day it's our lives at risk just to make a living :)"

"Is depends the condition of existing one.
If acces is accessible for installation alu tower and just clean and put top layer is not very expensive is £350.00 plus the VAT and cost of number tools of felt and gas for installation. How many rools is depends the size."

"Hi Menish

Well most roofers would charge for scaffolding if there is difficult access to the roof ,we do have a scaffolding tower that we use on all jobs so it will be cheaper for the customer.

Regards Thomas"

"Accessibility is definitely the biggest factor in the price for a job like this, but you can almost certainly avoid the cost of full scaffolding.

For 'awkward' areas at the back of a property, a professional roofer should be able to use a mobile access tower or an 'Easi-Dec' platform. These are much quicker to set up and will save you hundreds of pounds compared to traditional scaffolding.

In terms of cost, you are likely looking at £250 – £550 for a high-quality repair in a hard-to-reach spot. The final price depends on whether it's a simple 'torch-on' patch or if the water has reached the timber 'decking' underneath. If the wood has started to soften or rot, that needs addressing at the same time to stop the repair from failing in six months.

My advice: Don’t agree to a price until someone has actually seen the damage up close. I usually use a telescopic inspection camera for these 'awkward' spots—it allows me to show the homeowner exactly what’s happening on their roof from the safety of the ground before we even talk about costs. It's much better to have a clear picture of the timber's condition before you start."
