How much does badger proof fencing cost?

Proper badger-proof fencing normally costs more than standard garden fencing because the barrier needs to prevent badgers from digging underneath it. As a rough guide, I would allow around £80–£150+ per linear metre, depending on the type of fencing, ground conditions, access and the total length required.

A typical solution uses strong galvanised mesh that extends below ground level and is designed so badgers cannot simply dig underneath it. Existing fencing can sometimes be retained with a suitable buried mesh barrier added alongside it, which may reduce the overall cost.

For example, a 20-metre boundary could potentially cost around £1,600–£3,000+, including materials and installation, although difficult excavation, tree roots or restricted access can increase the price.

Before carrying out the work, it is important to check whether there is an active badger sett nearby. Badgers and their setts are legally protected in the UK, so work that could disturb or obstruct a sett may require specialist advice or permission. A site inspection would be recommended before deciding on the fencing method and providing a fixed quotation.

Badgers will bash their way through traditional fences. You would be best constructing the fence from 4x4  posts with dung board fitted horizontally. Dung board is an toung and groove board and is 6 inch wide and 47 mm thick. 
Dung board costs around £6 to £8 per mtr and if fitted properly, is  indestructible .
