How long do house alarms usually last?

How long do house alarms tend to last before they need replacing? I mean the alarm itself, not the batteries, just to clarify. Thanks!

"A good-quality burglar alarm can often last 15–20 years or more if it has been installed properly and maintained regularly. I’ve seen older wired systems continue working reliably well beyond that.
The main control panel, keypad, PIRs, door contacts and external sounder don’t necessarily need replacing just because they reach a certain age. What usually determines replacement is whether parts are failing, the manufacturer has stopped supporting the system, replacement components are becoming difficult to obtain, or the system no longer provides the level of security you need.
Older systems can also suffer from worn keypads, ageing relays, brittle cabling connections or outdated communication equipment.
Regular servicing makes a big difference. An engineer can test the detectors, sounders, tamper circuits, power supply and wiring and advise whether the system is still reliable.
So there isn’t really a fixed expiry date — a well-maintained traditional alarm can have a surprisingly long service life."

"Depends how well you look after it and have it regularly serviced i would expect ten years but more recent systems being more complicated need software updates on a regular basis"

"I wouldn't really put a time limit on it. They are known for being robust and lasting a long time."

"The lifespan of a house alarm depends on its components, surroundings and how well it is maintained. With regular care, a system can last fifteen years or longer, although individual parts may need replacing sooner.

For example, salt air near the coast can cause an external bell box to deteriorate more quickly. Older wooden doors can also move or become misaligned, affecting the operation of door contacts.

Regular servicing helps identify problems early and keeps your alarm working reliably. The better your system is maintained, the longer it is likely to last."
