How effective are CCTV systems?

Question

Does CCTV really deter burglars and if so to what extent? Do you have any stats on this I could check out, please? I’m a very factually oriented person so seeing the actual statistics would really help give me piece of mind if buying CCTV. Thank you.

Hi Sharon,

A potential intruder is less likely to target a house with CCTV, let’s be honest, who really wants to see their face on camera. The same applies to intruder alarms, they are both great deterrents.

Regarding statistics I can’t find any other than statements, reporting the same.

We find it more the customers peace of mind once a system is fitted.

They are effective and a deterenet , if you were to install a CCTV system I would choose the ne HIK ColourVu the camaeras have a small light on them in darkness so thiefs know you have the most up to date system .

All CCTV must come with a sign on your window or a sign on your wall saying you have CCTV, and better lighting outside, and get colour cameras which are day and night.
