How can I get more privacy in my garden?

We're in a terraced house and the garden is quite overlooked from both sides. We'd like more privacy without the garden feeling too closed in but no idea what our best options are. Any thoughts?

"A gazebo it's a great addition to your garden. You can get one with curtains on the side so no one can see you but you can still see out. Other than that you can get a large umbrella called a parasol."

"I think that putting up trellises with climbing plants will feel much less like a "boxed in prison yard" than simply surrounding yourself with tall wooden fences and can create more of the feeling of a magic secret garden. Also I would think about whether you need the whole garden to be private or if you would be happy to have part of the garden as your special private area and leaving the rest more open, so you are not blocking the light from all directions."

"Shrubs trees 🌳 etc is a great way to block out unwanted viewers also you could build a pergola for privacy and make your seating in this area or finally high trellis on the top of fence and hang flowers 💐"

"Several options available to you on this front, it really all depends on the aesthetic you want for your garden, and if you want instant privacy.
The instant options
Privacy screens or batens.
Fencing and trellis.
Remember though you are.limited on the height of these to i belive 6ft4 before you need planning permission

Longer options
Planting a privacy style hedge such as leylandii conifers or cherry laurel.
Whilst these natural.options do take longer they add a different feeling to your garden.

Or alternatively you can add in sectional privacy such as gazebos etc but again check with your local council on heights in the area that you are allowed to build to without planning permission being required."

"There are a few ways to gain more privacy. The best option for me would be to plant some trees or hedge plants that will grow up over time and give a nice canopy. Alternatively, as this will take while to grow to where you’d like it. You could fence the perimeter with 6ft feather edged panels."

"By law you can have a 6.5 feet fence in height, anything higher will need planing permission, I’d suggest an aluminium gazebo with shutter sides and roof which will give you privacy when needed. I hope this advise helps, feel free to ask more questions if needed."
