How can I deter capsid bugs from eating and damaging my garden plants?

"If only minimal damage is observed, it is not necessary to do more than keep dropped leaves and plant matter cleaned up to prevent capsid hiding places. Capsid bug treatment for heavily damaged plants should be done with a pyrethrin based pesticide, which is natural and safe to use in the home landscape."

"Hi,

Whilst I'm not an expert on this particular issue, I have had success in eliminating capsid on fruit trees.

In general, deterrents for capsid bug are largely dependent on the severity of the infestation and you views on pesticides.

It also depends on what type of plants you are having issues with.
Bases on limited information tho, my advice should help with flowers, shrubs and fruit plants.

There is also plenty of information on the internet.

My starting view it that it is best to avoid chemical based pesticides altogether and if the problem is mild, they should move on naturally but the problem persists, there are some non chemical pesticides on the market that work well.

If the infestation is mild, I would recommend a pyrethrin based pesticide in spray form frequently applied to the effected areas after flowering.
In more extreme or prolonged cases I would advise a synthetic solution containing either thiacloprid deltamethrin or lambda-cyhalothrin. Again, wait for after the flowers have dropped.

I hope this helps.

Best

Mark"
