Error code FD on Haier washer dryer

My Haier washer dryer is just over 2 years old. When I start the drying cycle, it shows the error code FD. Does anyone know what this means?

"That is more than likely Failed dryer heating element or thermostat. Only way to tell for sure is testing."

"Heating element failure and you need a professional to fix.
Also ask the manufacturer to repair under the consumer right act if you still have proof of purchase."

""Fd" error indicates a fault with the dryer heating system, most often a problem with the dryer heating element or a faulty dryer thermostat."

"Hi Frank

Indicating fault with the element or thermostat,

Will require testing to diagnose the fault."

"fd error code means dryer heating fault, most often caused by a malfunctioning heating element or thermostat, can be also caused by trapped lint that needs to be cleaned out"

"Hello

A "FD" error on a Haier washer dryer indicates a problem with the dryer heating system, most commonly a faulty heating element or thermostat. Other potential causes include a clogged lint filter, a faulty moisture sensor, or an overloaded drum. To troubleshoot, first ensure the machine is clean and not overloaded, then attempt a hard reset by unplugging it for 10 minutes. If the error persists, it's likely a component failure requiring professional repair."

"What “FD” means

According to Haier’s fault-code definitions, “Fd” (or FD) on a washer-dryer means “Dryer heating is abnormal.”

In other words: the machine has detected a problem with the heating system used for the drying cycle — often due to a faulty heating element, a broken thermostat, or another fault in the dryer’s heating circuit."

"The FD error code on a Haier washer dryer specifically indicates a Dryer Heating Fault. Essentially, the machine has detected that the drying system is not reaching the required temperature or that the heating circuit is "abnormal."

Since your machine is just over 2 years old, it’s likely out of its standard 1-year manufacturer warranty, but it is worth checking if you have an extended 5-year parts guarantee, which Haier often offers upon registration.

1. Common Causes
Overheating / Lint Build-up: This is the most common cause. If the air path is blocked by lint, the heater will overheat and trip a safety thermostat.

Faulty Heating Element: The element that gets hot during the drying cycle may have burnt out.

Tripped Thermal Cut-out: A small safety switch on the heater box may have "popped" to prevent a fire.

Faulty Thermistor (Sensor): The sensor that tells the machine the temperature might be sending incorrect data.

2. Things You Can Try Now (DIY)
Before calling an engineer, try these steps to see if it's a simple glitch or a blockage:

The 30-Minute Reset: Unplug the machine from the wall for at least 30 minutes. This can sometimes clear the "soft" error code and allow the thermal fuse to self-reset if it hasn't fully blown.

Clean the Filters: Ensure the main fluff filter (usually near the door) and the pump filter (bottom right of the machine) are completely clear. A blocked pump can prevent the dryer from working correctly because it can't drain the moisture it's removing.

Check for Overloading: If the drum is packed too tight, air can't circulate, which triggers the FD sensor. Try a drying cycle with the drum only half full.

3. If You Are Handy with Tools
On many Haier models (like the popular I-Pro Series 7), there is a manual reset button on the heating element.

Unplug the machine (Crucial for safety).

Remove the top panel of the washer dryer.

Locate the large metal heater box (usually at the back/top).

Look for a tiny red or brown button on the thermostat attached to that box. If you press it and hear a "click," you have reset the heater.

4. What it will cost to fix
If the reset doesn't work, you likely need a professional.

Independent Repair: Expect to pay between £80 and £140 (including parts) for a heating element or sensor replacement.

Haier Official Service: They often offer fixed-price repairs around £150–£180, which include all parts and labour."
