Should my cooker be on its own electrical circuit?

"Hi Johnathan,
Depend on the size of cooker and how powerful it is yes.
As cookers use a lot of power a standard circuit or plug top isn’t suffice and can be very dangerous if attempted. So having its own circuit with a correctly sized circuit breaker and big enough cable for the load is always the best way. Hope this helps."

"Hi, cookers tend to have their own dedicated circuit however you should always refer to the manufacturer manual as this will have all information regarding your cooker. With that information you can then decide if it requires to be on a dedicated circuit on its own."

"It would depend on the KW rating of the cooker. I would always recommend having a dedicated circuit for an oven."

"Their are some older ones that will go into a plug socket 2.5kw I believe but in general 9/10 it NEEDS to be on its own circuit , a 2.5 cable of a ring just ain’t gunna cut it , (Fire hazard) when it comes to the loads most cookers are drawing these days"

"Ideally yes, and at least a 32amp breaker. And wired into a cooker outlet that can be switched off on an isolator switch."

"All depends on the load of the cooker.some cooker can just plug into a socket outlet (2.5kw approx) however ever if you have a larger oven you will almost certainly find that the load is far greater, therefore an independent should be used ,generally 30amp rating"

"Normally cookers have their own circuits as they are quite a powerful appliance so to answer your question yes. depends on power consumption. Average cooker circuits are normally 6mm with a 32a MCB/RCBO, if you are looking at induction then 10mm with 40a MCB/RCBO. You don't want them cables warm!"
