"no, as the wiring in the ceiling will have the electrical feed required for your light fitting, depending on the light fitting (of which there are thousands of different types IE china ) you will need an electrician to fit this properly"

"A quick test on the wiring will clarify the condition of existing cable and whether it’s still adequate to use , theirs consideration of is it metallic , or class two fitting depending on the situation regarding the cpc , and yes some additional wiring possibly needed, really it’s all speculation until someone actually looks at it , as you can see from the answers"

"That will depends on the integrity of the wiring that is already there and the age of the wiring."

"If the new light fittings are 3 x independent fixtures, then yes a small amount of additional wiring will be required to power the fittings, unless they are of a wireless type and style? I.E battery"

"not necessarily new wiring, just extending to the new light positions, if the joists in the ceiling run the right way, these can sometimes be fished, or if that is not the case then access is required. If it is a bungalow, no problem, but if it is a house, then floorboards or carpets would need need to be lifted"

"No the existing wiring should be fine . The only thing you will have to sort out is if your existing single light is in a ceiling rose then that will need to be sorted to incorporate your new light otherwise it’s a simple swap"
