"Depending on how severe the cracks are . If the render as blown from frost ! It as to be chopped back , sealed with SBR or unibond . Then rerendered . Matching to existing is difficult ! Unless it’s chopped off totally you will see a repair seam ! Regards Paul"

"Hi Mark

Achieving a perfect colour match for a patch repair in existing pebbledash is notoriously difficult, often almost impossible, and repairs will likely look obvious. This is due to the natural variations in the aggregate (pebbles) and the weathering/aging of the original material over time."

"Hi Mark
As the other tradesmen have mentioned it’s very difficult to match exactly to the existing. The compromised area need’s chopping off bk to brick/ block work an re- rendered then scatted with pebbles. On a additional note if the cracks are structural i.e in brick work then I would advise discing mortar joints down the cracked area an inserting some heli - bars an setting with a epoxy resin to strengthen the brick/block work before the new render coats are applied."

"Would need to see a picture but cracks in pebble dash can be repaired in some cases although water ingress can be a problem if left over time"

"Yes, minor cracks can usually be repaired by:
Raking out the cracks
Applying a suitable exterior repair mortar
Re-applying pebbledash using a closely matched aggregate and cement mix
An experienced contractor can normally achieve a very close colour and texture match, although a perfect match cannot always be guaranteed due to weathering and age of the existing render.
When replacement may be needed
If cracks are widespread, deep, or recurring
If the render is loose, hollow, or debonded from the wall
If cracking is caused by structural movement or water ingress
In these cases, patch repairs may remain visible or fail over time, and a larger section or full replacement may be more appropriate.
Is it a concern?
Hairline cracks are usually cosmetic
Larger or stepped cracks should be investigated to rule out movement or moisture issues before repair
Summary
✔ Localised cracks → usually repairable
✔ Good colour match → achievable but not guaranteed
✔ Extensive or moving cracks → partial or full replacement recommended
If you want, I can help you decide by asking:
Approximate age of the pebbledash
Size and pattern of the cracks
Whether any areas sound hollow when tapped
That would allow a more accurate recommendation."
