How long does a brick wall take to dry out?

We had a leaking gutter for months and the brickwork on that side got soaked right through. Now it's fixed, how long before the wall is dry enough to replaster inside?

Once the source of the water has been fixed, it’s best to let the wall dry naturally. Depending on how saturated it became, this could be anywhere from a few weeks to several months. I’d check the moisture levels before plastering to make sure the wall is dry enough.

If its outside wich it is being from guttering...its double cavity wall..most of wettness will be on outside...won't effect the inside wall to plastering if it's dry to the touch..plaster away...

If the brickwork was saturated for months, I’d allow at least 4–8 weeks, potentially even 2–3 months for a badly soaked wall. Good ventilation, gentle heating and a dehumidifier can help speed up drying.

Don’t replaster based on time alone. Remove any blown plaster and let the masonry fully dry, checking that damp patches disappear and moisture readings are steadily falling. Also check for salts. Replastering while the wall is still holding significant moisture risks staining, salts and the new plaster failing.

There isn’t a set drying time because it depends on how saturated the wall became, the wall thickness, ventilation, temperature and whether the original leak has fully stopped. A heavily soaked brick wall can take several weeks, and sometimes a few months, to dry properly.  
I wouldn’t replaster based on time alone. The wall should be checked for remaining damp first, ideally with a moisture meter and by looking for any signs of salts, staining or continuing moisture. Good ventilation, gentle heating and a dehumidifier can help speed things up.  
If the plaster has been damaged or contaminated by prolonged damp, it may also need removing back to a sound substrate before replastering. The key thing is making sure the wall is genuinely dry and the source of water has been fixed before sealing it back up.
